The I's have it: Three Indiana teams and one from Iowa join Texas' Best Trained as Saturday's pools winners at the Jazz Town Duals |

Four of Saturday's pools competitions were won by schools from states starting with the letter I. As predicted, the Penn Gold team from Indiana and the Team Valley squad went undefeated during their pools. But the defending champion Archer Bulldogs fell again (they did so last year yet won the event anyway), this time to the Brownsburg, Indiana's A team 46-27. The top-seed in Pool D, the Crusader Wrestling Club, fell to the third winner from Indiana, Perry Meridian A. Best Trained, comprised primarily of wrestlers from last season's Trey Culotta Invitational runner-up, Allen, Texas, won the last of the five pools.
It looks as if a lot of teams are stronger than they were last year. Pittsburg, Kansas placed third in Pool A behind Brownsburg and Archer, and they only lost to Archer via a 38-34 score. The Turk's Head team from Pennsylvania placed second to Team Valley but dominated everyone else via a combined score of 174-60.
Most scary was Iowa's Team Valley. Last year's runner-up to Archer, so far the Iowa wrestlers have not lost a match, defeating their opponents, including the New Orleans Wrestling Club and Turks Head, 86-0, 84-0, 76-0 and 72-0. The only team they did not face that was in their pool was the Tate team from Florida. Tate finished third, but they lost to Turks Head 70-12.

Sixteen teams advanced to the Sunday championship bracket. Four are from Indiana, two each are from Florida, Louisiana, Pennsylvania and Texas, and one apiece from Georgia, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri.
Brother Martin will open their Sunday match against a vastly improved Pittsburg, Kansas team. On the same side of the bracket is Penn Gold (the Indiana state champions ranked 46th nationally), Archer (last year's champions and currently ranked 11th nationally) and Best Trained (Allen, TX and friends).
The top half of the bracket it little easier, if at all. Team Valley starts with the Westbank Wrestling Club, but later could face Easton, PA, Major Decision, MO or Perry Meridian A, the team that upset the Crusaders WC.
